Azolla (Live Floating Aquarium Plant)

Azolla, also known as Fairy Moss or Mosquito Fern, is a delicate, fast-growing floating plant made up of tiny fern-like clusters that spread across the water surface like a soft green lace carpet. Its fine texture and vibrant colour — which can shift toward red or pink under strong light — make it a favourite for natural, jungle-style planted tanks.

Tank Setup Tips

Azolla prefers calm, still water — strong surface flow or filter agitation can break up the delicate clusters. Because it grows so quickly, it will need to be thinned out every 1–2 weeks to avoid completely blocking light to plants below the surface. Excellent alongside Salvinia for a mixed floating plant display with contrasting textures.
